A simple, beautiful way to enjoy summer nature and make something cheerful for a window! Tip: Make it a nature walk activity—collect items together and then create when you get home! Materials: - Clear contact paper or wide clear packing tape -Brown cardboard (cereal box or recycled cardboard works great) -Scissors -Hole punch and string (optional for hanging) -Nature finds: flowers, leaves, blades of grass, small petals, ferns, etc. -Ziploc bags (optional for organizing supplies or on-the-go crafting) Directions:
Make the Frame: - Cut a square or circle from your cardboard. - Then, cut out a window in the center to create a frame (like a photo frame). Stick the Tape: - Place a long strip of clear packing tape across the back of the frame, sticky side facing out. - Or cut a piece of clear contact paper and attach it to the back of the frame with the sticky side facing out. Add Nature Finds: - Invite your child to stick flowers, leaves, and other treasures they’ve found outdoors directly onto the sticky surface. -Press gently to secure. Seal It: - Add another strip of packing tape or contact paper over the back to sandwich everything in place. Display: - Punch a hole at the top, thread a string through, and hang in a sunny window to enjoy your handmade sun catcher! |
